SITUATION OF NEPAL

This information is given in order to reflect the present scenario of Nepal in terms of her working and general life styles.

Peace has finally returned to Nepal. After thirteen years of brutal conflict and political instability, on the 8th of November 2006, Nepal finally woke up to the sound of peace once again. And that is what an english langugage newspaper and the newspaper man (above pic) seem to suggest. Another Nepali language daily (see pic below) also cheers the 'historical decision'

In the last one year Nepal has seen a dramatic upturn in fortune. Just one year ago the nation was engulfed by Maoist insurgency and ravaged by war. But thanks to the peaceful mass movement that saw the rise of democracy, peace seems to be finally returning to Nepal. We have a ceasefire at place and it looks as if the ten year long Maoist rebellion is finally coming to a peaceful end.

Last time around, even when the situation of the country was not all that good, to say the least, we had a very successful event as almost all of the paper presenters, except a few, attended the conference. In fact some of them visited the mountainous region and other part of the country. Foreigners are, still today, treated as the God as per the Hindu religion. And the Maoists too have mentioned this fact.

Therefore I on behalf of Organizing committee heartily welcome you in this Himalayan kingdom, request you to participate in the conference and make this event a grand success.
